Mars Rover Test Facility

Lighting, power and data for the viewing gallery and STEM centre beside Airbus's recreated Martian surface.

Mars Rover Test Facility, Stevenage, Hertfordshire

At its Stevenage facility, Airbus recreated the surface of Mars so the UK Space Agency could rehearse the landing and driving of the new Mars rover.

Thomas Halliwell installed the lighting, power and data for the new viewing gallery and the STEM centre behind it. We worked under strict controls so that live test runs were never disrupted.

The finished facility was officially opened by astronaut Tim Peake, and the opening was covered on national news.

Scope of works
  • Viewing gallery lighting
  • STEM centre power and data
